My grandmother first put a crochet hook in my hand when I was eight. We sat side by side on her Iowa porch as she patiently guided me through the rhythm of yarn and hook. A few years later, I learned to sew on her living room sewing machine and to macramé from a hook fastened to her dining room ceiling. Decades have passed, but I still treasure the feel of fiber running through my fingers. Today, looms fill my home (yes—even the dining room!), and every piece I weave connects me to the generations of women who created before me. My handwovens are meant to be lived with—used, worn, and loved.
I also love sharing weaving with others. At every show, I bring one or two looms to my booth so visitors can see the process firsthand and better understand how cloth was made long before modern manufacturing.
